Created by the Neighborhood Preservation Coalition of New York State with Funding from the New York State Homes and Community Renewal
This Resource Guide is designed to help urban and suburban nonprofit organizations in New York State locate funding for affordable housing and community development programs. The search for funding is one of the primary challenges faced by organizations, and this resource guide makes the search easier by providing information and links to further resources on programs that fund affordable housing and community development activities.
The Resource Guide includes information on funding from public sources at the federal, state, and local level. These public sources are indexed in three different formats – alphabetically, by activity, and by public source. The publicly funded programs are categorized according to which agency a nonprofit must submit their application to. For example, although HOME dollars initially come from HUD, they are allocated to the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) and local governments who then allocate this money to nonprofit organizations. The Guide also provides information on private funders. In addition, it includes a list of additional useful links to fundraising resources.
