SpotlightsThank you for your interest in submitting a story to The Coalition’s Member Spotlight web feature.

Your work makes New York a better place to live for everyone and we want to make sure it gets proper recognition. So help us spread the word about the vital work that the NPCs do and submit your story to us today.

Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Submissions should be between 400-500 words in length
  2. Include relevant photos
  3. Follow the established monthly themes. See below
  4. Submissions must be sent by the 20th of the month for publication the following month. So, if you are submitting for February, your submission needs to be sent by no later than the 20th of January
  5. If you would like an audio interview included, please notify Cara in your initial submission email
  6. Submissions are accepted from dues-paying members

Submissions should be emailed to the Executive Director at execdir@npcnys.org

  • January is Poverty Awareness month. Member success story should focus on a program or project that works to eliminate poverty.
  • February is Black History Month. Member success story should focus on a program or project with positive outcomes for the black/African-American individuals, families, or the community.
  • March is Women’s History Month. Member success story should focus on a program or project with positive outcomes for women and girls, even if at the individual or family level.
  • Earth Day occurs in April. Member success story should focus on a green/sustainable project.
  • In May, we celebrate Mothers and military service members. Member success story should focus on a program or project with positive outcomes for mothers and/or active-duty service members or veterans.
  • June has both Father’s Day and  LGBT Pride Month Member. Member success story should focus on a program or project with positive outcomes for a father or fathers and/or the LGBTQ individual or community.
  • Independence Day occurs in July. Member success story should focus on a project that helps people live independently (people living with disabilities, aging in place, self-sufficiency, foreclosure/eviction prevention, etc…)
  • International Youth Day and Women’s Equality Day both take place in August. Member success story should focus on a project that creates positive outcomes for youth and/or focuses on women’s equality or leadership.
  • Labor Day takes place in September. Member success story should focus on a workforce development training program.
  • October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. Member success story should focus on a program or project with positive outcomes for survivors of domestic violence/intimate partner abuse.
  • Thanksgiving takes place in November. We will feature up to ten (10) member success stories this month (one from each region) where npcs can take an in-depth focus on a family or individual they’ve helped over the year and also share what they’re thankful for. This is great to seed annual appeals.
  • World AIDS Day takes place in December. Member success story should focus on a program or project with positive outcomes for people living with HIV.
